Visual Field Analysis
The visual field comprises our sharp central vision, as well as our peripheral, or ‘side’ vision. It is vital to assess the functionality of the entire visual field, peripheral vision included, since visual field abnormalities may indicate the onset of certain ocular diseases, as well as neurological disorders such as tumors. Glaucoma, for instance, causes optic nerve damage, resulting in a characteristic visual field loss pattern.
We have the most advanced visual field analyzers available: the Humphrey Field Analyzer 750i is the gold standard in visual field testing. This analyzer does the binocular field testing required by the Ministry of Transportation and it also has advanced glaucoma progression analysis (GPA) software. We also have the Zeiss/ Welch Allyn FDT, which is an excellent screening device and is the most sensitive device to pick up early glaucomatous loss.
